Suncoast Animal League in Palm Harbor needs donations to help homeless Puerto Rican pets
The Suncoast Animal League needs donations to help homeless pets in Puerto Rico. Four volunteers with the Palm Harbor animal shelter just returned from the island where they delivered pet food, medicine and other supplies. Animal groups from around the country are rushing to get dogs and cats without families out of Puerto Rico to both help the pet and people on the island. At least four people died and six other became ill from a disease likely spread by animal urine. The Suncoast Animal League says an anonymous donor offered the use of a cargo plan to transport animals back to Pinellas County. Volunteers plan to return to Puerto Rico by the end of next week. They will spend a few days distributing supplies and getting at least 50 cats and dogs prepared for a return trip back to the States.
