These Indian Doctors Created An Animal Ark | WILDEST ANIMAL RESCUES

Two human doctors in India have dedicated their lives to helping both the people and animals in Hemalkasa, Maharashtra.

Dr Prakash Amte and his wife, Dr. Mandakini Amte started their charitable exploits in the early seventies when the doctors set up a hospital where they would treat tribal people for free. Their project Lok Biradari Prakalp was providing medical assistance to tribal people.

“We lived in tribal areas and provided medical aid to people even in the times when there was no electricity." says Dr. Prakash. “We made a cottage and started a hospital there. We faced many problems in the beginning, as people had no faith in us. They used to run away from us."

Then, after a chance meeting with an orphaned monkey, the Amtes opened up an animal orphanage - called Amte’s Animal Ark - for rescued wild animals.
One day the doctors came across a group of people coming back from the hunt, with two monkey tied to the bamboo stick, a mother and her baby, who was trying to suckle milk from her teat. The Amtes offered the hunter rice and vegetables in exchange for the <a href="https://rumble.com/v30qxp-baby-monkey-birthday-party.html" target="_blank">baby monkey</a>, which they agreed to. That was their first bargain.

The family then started bargaining with the tribals in exchange for animals that they rescued, including a baby bear. For the last two decades, the Amte family have rescued animals including jackals, leopards, jungle cats, sloth bears, giant squirrels, rat-tail langurs, four-horned antelopes, black buck antelopes, rat snakes, Indian pythons, crocodiles, monitor lizards, hynas, peacocks, spotted deer, and porcupines.
