A man named Philip Paxson was killed after he drove off a bridge 6 meters down to Snow Creek, North Carolina after following directions given by Google Maps.
The Paxson family tried to sue Google for not updating their Google Maps system.
Apparently, the bridge collapsed 9 years ago and was never repaired.
Some people had reported the bridge being taken down, but it wasn't updated on Google Maps.
Now if you are driving, it is your responsibility to keep your eyes on the road and not be distracted to anything else.
Since Philip Paxson was distracted to what was on his phone screen of Google Maps and not paying attention to the road, he was at fault for not stopping, pull over, try to find a different route, and follow that way while keeping his eyes on the road at all times.
If you are using Safari, Google Maps, Waze, or other navigation apps, make sure while you are using the app, keep your eyes on the road or use a hands-free setting like Bluetooth that connects your phone to your car.
Otherwise, don't drive, and have someone else drive for you instead; such as a taxi driver, uber, or a friend.
