A space gateway, in the context of space exploration, refers to a potential waystation in lunar orbit that could serve as a hub for future missions to the Moon, Mars, and other destinations in the solar system. Such a gateway would enable a range of activities, including scientific research, technology demonstration, and international collaboration, while also serving as a staging point for missions deeper into space. As of my last knowledge update in 2022, NASA's Artemis program has been actively considering the development of the Lunar Gateway, a lunar orbit space station that will support sustainable lunar exploration and serve as a platform for missions to Mars and beyond.
