Wireless power over distances is actually real today, and while we're not yet using it on an everyday basis to power our consumer electronics such as phones and tablets at a distance in our homes or offices, the technology IS being used right now with RF tags to gather detailed information in real time, while also being used with Electronic Shelf Labels and with IOT sensors, so let's hear from Cesar Johnston to learn more!

Energous. https://energous.com/ The company is a leader in the advancement of wireless charging technology, with the company stating its award-winning "WattUp technology" being the only solution that supports both near field and at-a-distance charging.

Here's the official Energous video that gives you a high-level explanation of its technology and capabilities:

So, how does the technology work?

Using an Energous PowerBridge transmitter to send energy via radio waves to Energous-enabled receiver devices, those radio waves are converted into DC power, which in turn charges the receiver device’s battery.

Working safely without interfering with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, the tech was the first to receive FCC approval for Power-at-a-Distance, Energous provides both near field and over-the-air distance wireless charging solutions with its RF-based technology.

As the company explains, this technology offers designers flexible antenna designs supporting very small footprints as well as curved/non-flat surfaces, placement and orientation freedom, and removal of pogo pins or USB connectors allowing for fully waterproof and dustproof designs.

In addition, its near field and over-the-air distance charging solutions are interoperable.

The company's goal is to wirelessly power everything from the critical tools and devices that keep factories running to the instruments and wearables that monitor patient health.

Energous notes its next-gen tech, backed by hundreds of patents, supports a near-limitless range of applications without the need for cumbersome charging cables and ports that limit innovation and are prone to failure.

Now, I last spoke with Energous President and CEO, Cesar Johnston, https://www.linkedin.com/in/cesar-johnston-9329094/ at CES 2022, and I've embedded that earlier video interview below, but first is the interview with Cesar from late September 2023, which covers what happened since we last spoke at CES.

So, that recent interview is what is above this text, and if you want to see what the company was presenting at CES 2022, take a look at the earlier video interview at the end of this article!
