President Jokowi meets with the PM of Saudi Arabia at Al-Yamamah Palace

President Joko Widodo continued his second day of working visit to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday, 19 October 2023, by meeting Prime Minister (PM) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KAS) Mohammed bin Salman al-Saud at Al-Yamamah Palace, Riyadh. The President's departure for the palace was accompanied by the Minister of Trade of Saudi Arabia, Majid bin Abdullah Al-Kassabi.

Arriving at around 14.00 WS, the President arrived at the front yard of Al-Yamamah Palace and was officially welcomed by the PM of Saudi Arabia and then walked together towards the stage of honor. The welcoming procession continued with the playing of the national songs of both countries.

Next, the two leaders walked into the Palace lobby to introduce delegations from each country. The Indonesian delegation who took part in the meeting were Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of BUMN Erick Thohir, Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Abdul Aziz Ahmad, and Director General of Aspasaf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Abdul Kadir Jailani.

Meanwhile from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also attending were Minister of Defense of Saudi Arabia Khalid bin Salman al-Saud, Minister of Sports of Saudi Arabia Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Faisal bin Farhan al-Saud, Minister of Culture of Saudi Arabia Badr bin Farhan al-Saud, Saudi Arabian Finance Minister Muhammad Abdullah Al-Jadaan, and Saudi Arabian Investment Minister Khalid Abdulaziz Al-Falih.

After that, President Jokowi and the PM of Saudi Arabia held a bilateral meeting in the meeting room, Al-Yamamah Palace. After the bilateral meeting was completed, President Jokowi then attended a banquet by the PM of Saudi Arabia.

This series of meetings ended with the signing of a number of memorandums of understanding (MoU) between the Indonesian government and KAS which were witnessed by President Jokowi and the PM of Saudi Arabia. The cooperation signed regarding the formation of the Supreme Coordinating Council between the Republic of Indonesia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; technical cooperation between the National Standardization Agency (BSN) and the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization; cooperation in youth and sports; as well as cooperation in guaranteeing halal products.
