Invergordon started life as the northern terminus of a ferry across the Cromarty Firth to Balblair on the Black Isle. This formed part of a network of routes that for centuries was used by pilgrims making their way to the chapel dedicated to St Duthac in Tain
Invergordon, with its fine natural harbour, is a key port at the mouth of the Cromarty Firth and has a proud maritime history. Now, in the 21st century, each year it welcomes an increasing number of large cruise liners which take advantage of the port’s beautiful setting and central location to explore the Highlands
