My life has been very full this week. At the beginning I thought I was losing my job. Then I knew all was ok. Then I found a good friend might be thinking of getting married. I want to encourage them. It is a big change, and a small one and no change at all. Friends remain. But the challenge of married life is growth and discovery. I wish them well. My heart is full.

The fact I cannot sing does not mean I will not.

"Both Sides, Now" is a song written by Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell. It was first recorded and released by Mitchell on her 1969 album "Clouds." The song has become one of her most iconic and enduring works, and it has been covered by many artists over the years.

The song's lyrics are often interpreted as an exploration of the complexities of life and the changing perspectives that come with experience and time. The phrase "both sides now" refers to seeing things from different perspectives or viewpoints. In the song, Mitchell reflects on how her perceptions and understanding of love, life, and the world have evolved over time.

The song's verses describe various aspects of life, such as clouds, love, and dreams, and how they can appear differently when seen from different angles. It touches on the idea that things are not always as they seem, and our understanding of them can change as we gain wisdom and experience.

[Verse 1]
Rows and floes of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
I've looked at clouds that way

[Verse 2]
But now they only block the sun
They rain and they snow on everyone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way

[Chorus]
I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
It's cloud illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all

[Verse 3]
Moons and Junes and Ferris wheels
The dizzy dancing way that you feel
As every fairy tale comes real
I've looked at love that way

[Verse 4]
But now it's just another show
You leave 'em laughing when you go
And if you care, don't let them know
Don't give yourself away

[Chorus]
I've looked at love from both sides now
From give and take, and still somehow
It's love's illusions I recall
I really don't know love at all

[Verse 5]
Tears and fears and feeling proud
To say "I love you" right out loud
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds
I've looked at life that way

[Verse 6]
But now old friends are acting strange
They shake their heads, they say I've changed
Well something's lost, but something's gained
In living every day

[Chorus]
I've looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all

[Chorus]
I've looked at life from both sides now
From up and down and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all
