Bus Driver In New Orleans Arrested After Choking A Middle School Boy

A bus driver taking kids from Marrero Middle School has been arrested after being recorded on video slapping, pushing and choking a student, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office confirmed Thursday. Miles Jenkins, 77, was booked with simple battery, said Sgt. Brandon Veal. The incident happened Monday, according to the Jefferson Parish Public School System, who said Jenkins was employed by the district's transportation vendor, First Student.

In a video posted on Facebook, Jenkins can be seen pushing the student in his seat and slapping him. The boy tries to push the driver off. But Jenkins grabs the student's arms, pushes the boy against the window and puts his hands around the student's neck for several seconds as other students on the bus scream, "Get off of him."
