When it comes to avoiding off leash dogs, best offense is a good defense! By that we mean proactively staying out of the areas you know could lead to an unwanted, off leash dog encounter. Especially if your dog is still working through reactivity themselves. By staying aware of what’s happening around you in parks and on walks with your dog, you lessen the likelihood of having an interaction that could be potentially dangerous. This is always our first rule for handling situations with off leash dogs. While it’s unfair that you have to limit certain environments for your dog, it is a very reliable way to stay out of trouble and on track with your walks.
