Downtown Emmett: A Tale of Vacancy and Monopoly

In this video, we discuss the situation in downtown Emmett, Idaho, where a single company, Huckleberry Properties Idaho LLC, owns 13 storefronts across 10 buildings. Six of these spaces are currently empty, and the city is unable to force the company to rent them out.

We also discuss the potential role of government regulations in the situation. John argues that government regulations can make it difficult and expensive to start a business, and that this can discourage entrepreneurs from moving into empty storefronts.
