Rescuers and residents searched for survivors in rubble after an airstrike struck Nuseirat Refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, killing dozens of people, trapping more under the rubble, according to witnesses.

The bombed tower, with two dozen apartments inside, was reduced to a mountain of rubble.

The exact number of killed is unknown, but a few dozen bodies had already been recovered and many people were rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment.

Gaza’s humanitarian needs have escalated since the Israel-Hamas war erupted following the Palestinian militant group’s surprise Oct. 7 attacks in Israel, which left nearly 1,400 Israelis dead and at least 240 taken hostage.
