Spoiler Alert!
If you want the full impact of this video, watch it before reading further… The ending is revealed here.
When Kylee and Andy Ballestas rescued a tiny German Shepherd puppy from a bad situation, they weren’t sure what to do to find a safe place for him to go. They wanted to make sure he didn’t end up in a place that would put him down, and they couldn’t keep him themselves, they just wanted to get him away from where he was.
When they reached out to family and friends to find a place, a family member told our friend Don Grayson about the pup…And Don knows very well what we do.
Don then contacted us with a 30 second video of bean playing with toys in the Ballestas living room and asked if we could help. Of course, we are not a rescue, but we said we would try our rescue friends.
I reached out to everyone on our teams, and although it was a bit before Ozark Team member Sherry Brown checked in, something told me to wait until she did. That was the right choice.
Sherry’s Son-In-Law Dustin knew a guy…
A guy named Jason who works with the 501c3 organization K9s on The Front Line, an organization that provides fully trained PTSD service dogs to combat veterans. And when they saw the video sent to us from the Ballestas, they thought Bean might be a good candidate.
We picked Bean up and held him overnight and after some play time, a camera shoot or two, and after several much needed naps, we took Bean out to Columbia, Mo to meet and begin bonding with his new dad.
All of us at Big Paw Rescue Trapping are proud to have played a part in this story.
