West Palm Airport Runs, Upscale Shops and Halloween Musings

In my latest Uber vlog for Sunday, things took an unexpected turn, although I did anticipate some changes since I aimed to explore West Palm Beach. Despite aiming for an early start, a family event caused a slight delay. I began with some runs at the Miami airport, then got a lucrative $39 trip to Deerfield Beach, which is near my desired destination of West Palm Beach. Once there, I acquainted myself with the West Palm Beach airport, noticing that many rides were short but generously tipped. My day mostly revolved around the airport, but the slow pace allowed me to interact with the influx of snowbirds from New York and the Midwest who frequent Miami and Palm Beach during winter and spring.

Throughout the day, I mused on various topics, from the etymology of 'Halloween' and its significance as All Hallows' Eve, to the peculiarities of celebrating the festival on a Tuesday. Strangely, while Saturday was brimming with Halloween festivities, Sunday was rather subdued, making me wonder if the actual day will be celebrated at all.

Cultural observations were abundant. I delved into the unique characteristics of West Palm Beach, pondering why travelers might choose its airport over Fort Lauderdale's. When things got hectic, it struck me how profitable short trips could be. A drive past the opulent Worth Avenue was also enlightening, flaunting upscale boutiques like Loro Piana and Gucci. Speaking of Loro Piana, I couldn't help but recall HBO's "Succession", where the character Kendall Roy flaunts a Loro Piana peacoat priced in the tens of thousands, and often dons jackets worth $5,000. Such brands epitomize the lavish lifestyle portrayed in the series.
