Episode 74
We rescued another Belgian Draft Horse from almost shipping to slaughter! Because of your kindness and generous monetary donations we saved this sweet girl!

One of our subscribers reached out to me on Facebook a few weeks back and sent me a post from Southern Wisconsin Second Chance Lot of a Belgian Draft Horse that was listed on their page for about a week. No one had rescued her and there was a chance she would be shipping to slaughter any day. We decided to rescue her and Cory drove our truck and trailer to Columbus, Wisconsin (about 1100 miles one way) from Amarillo, Texas.

We are excited to have "new girl from Wisconsin" here in Texas safe on the farm. She can now enjoy a life of retirement after all her years of hard work as a brood mare on an Amish farm. This is her arrival to Amarillo, TX video, name reveal and how she is doing her first week on the farm.

WE are also excited to announce that the Big Hoof Foundations website is finally completed! Check out our new site at bighooffoundation.org

The Big Hoof Foundation is selling t-shirt to raise funds to support our rescue mission and also to provide care for all of the rescued horses. The fundraiser is going until October 8, 2023, so make sure you place your order now before time runs out! Shirts will be printed once the fundraiser ends and shirts should ship out at the end of October. See link below.

The one item WE always need is FEED! If you would like to send a gift/donation of feed (Alfa Pro) you can send that through our local feed store, HF & C Amarillo. HF&C Amarillo has offered to help us with anyone wanting to send a gift/donation of Alfa-Pro to the horses. When you call, tell them you are sending a gift to Fletcher Farms Amarillo/Big Hoof Foundation and they will add the gifts to our account.

Alfa-Pro is a complete pelleted alfalfa mixed with vitamins and minerals all the horses need on a daily basis. Alfa-Pro is $17.45 per bag. They do offer a discount if you purchase by the pallet (40 - 50 pound bags) $16.95 per bag if purchased by the pallet. WE go through about 5-1/2 bags per day to feed all the horses (270 pounds per day).

Thank you to everyone that has sent us gifts of Alfa Pro! The horses love Alfa Pro and we truly appreciate the bags/pallets you have sent to us!
