Chapter 23: The Appraisal Process

I entered a small circular room through an arched door that seemed to be some sort of waiting area. In the room there were three dark wooden chairs on one side of the wall and three glossy white chairs on the other side of the wall. The dark wooden chairs seemed to be each intricately carved out of a single block of ebony. The glossy white chairs seemed to be each made out of a single pearl. There was a round short coffee table in the center that seemed too made out of clear crystal. I sat down in the middle chair of the three dark wooden chairs. It seemed like I had just sat down when my Adi appeared through the arched door. I rose to my feet and my Adi reached out and grasped me on the shoulders, “It is time. It is our turn.” Suddenly there was a whirlwind at my feet and it seemed like I was lifted upward by a powerful wind. I closed my eyes and then a few seconds later it seemed the wind had stopped.

I opened my eyes and found myself at the center of center of a giant circular stadium with a dome covering. Surrounding me on all sides were angels seated in the stadium seating. Most of the angels were about the size of a human being, but some of them were giant with towering wings several stories high. Then I heard my name proclaimed in a loud booming voice. All the angels then gave out a unified melodious cheer and applause that sounding like waves crashing on a beach, which stopped abruptly to complete silence. My Adi’s hand rested on my shoulder as if it was there for moral support but also to show admiring approval. It seemed like a captain of a sports team giving encouragement to key player.

A giant crystal globe lowered from the ceiling. It seemed to function like a viewing window similar to my selection process. On the viewing globe appeared the most magnificent house, and it seemed oddly familiar. Then I remembered it was part of the potential eternal rewards for the life I had selected in the selection process. The crystal viewing globe then displayed all of rest of the potential eternal rewards I had seen earlier in the selection process. Then I heard a loud echoing voice, “We will now test the foundations of your life and see if your house and rewards have withstood the storms you encountered in your temporal life. We will also see the quality of the foundations of your life whether they be of the caliber of gold, silver, precious stones, hay or straw. Your work and its foundations will become evident as daylight today, and the quality of your work will be tested in the fire. If your life’s work was built on foundations of the caliber of gold, silver, or precious stones, your house will remain, and you will have an eternal reward and estate at a corresponding proximity to the Creator. If your life’s work was built on foundations of the caliber of hay or straw, your work will be burned up, and your eternal rewards will be complexly lost, but still you yourself, your soul and life, are still saved.”

In the crystal viewing globe there was a moving vision of all the choices I made in my life, their repercussions throughout all history, an animation of how it impacted my potential eternal rewards, and an appraisal score for my life. The angels cheered at each of the moments of my life where I displayed some form of faith, hope, love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, faithfulness, generosity, and self-control. Each time the angels cheered my score increased. I was surprised that the small acts of kindness that I thought were insignificant during my life were considered to be some of the more important and influential works in my life. It was as if each small act of kindness was a small seed, and I saw its cascading effects blossom into a giant tree. I never realized in my life how the smallest act of kindness could have giant rippling effects through time, which changed the course of history. I noticed that parts of my life where I had sinned were acknowledged with a lowering of my score, but the sinful acts themselves were redacted from the vision. The angels would give out a unified groan every time my score got lowered and some of my potential eternal rewards were lost.

In the crystal viewing globe there was an animation of storms, fires, earthquakes, and other natural disasters wreaking havoc on the house, which seemed to symbolize all of the trials and temptations I endured in my life. My sins seemed to cause damage to the house, and my works seemed to fortify and repair it. At one point in time the house flooded. Some of my eternal rewards were lost when the house flooded. At one time, there was a giant earthquake, and it seemed like the house was about to complexly collapse. Some of my eternal rewards were shattered in the earthquake. At another point in time, the house got struck by lightning, and a great fire broke out. Some of my eternal rewards were burned up in the fire. In the end of the animation, the house was battered and beaten, and some parts have caved in, but there seemed to be parts still standing, or at least I hoped so. Some of my potential eternal rewards were lost, but it looked like some still remained, or at least I hoped so.

I then heard the loud echoing voice one last time, “Based on your life and its appraisal score, the quality of the foundations of your life is appraised to be of the caliber of …
