Erevna Den - Episode Thirteen : The Reason For Communion

[NOTE: Yesterday was an insane schedule for me, when recording this video. I filmed this, but also went to my church to set up and grill hot dogs for their Fall Festival, as my wife took our daughters to their opera recital downtown. Then went downtown, yet again, with my wife, to have an evening out together...which it seems led us to food poisoning. So, long story short, I was not able to mix this down and get it out till today. Not only that, but I feel that I was so rushed yesterday in filming, that I let quite a few things out of the clip...or that I was talking in a bit of a contradiction. So, instead of recording more today and splicing it into the previous film, I will just add in certain remarks into this lecture description.]

How often do you take Communion in your congregation? Or are there also times you do it by yourself? Once a day? A week? A month? Quarterly, Semi-annually? Or just once a year, most likely at Passover?

What are the rules and regulations within your denomination which you must abide by, when it comes to the partaking of the Body & Blood of Christ? Do you do grape juice or wine? Do you partake in the breaking of bread with that which is unleavened? Does once know the reasons why, from a Scriptural standpoint, why we do it in that manner?

If so, great...but what other rules have been added into this Sacrament in your church? Are there other rules which bog down your walk with Christ, because of a Spirit of Religion? Does certain services feel more like an IRS Tax Code Book, and less like a relationship with the Almighty?

What about other holidays, which have been in much controversy as of late? Like Halloween? Or Thanksgiving? Has it felt that what was once a time of festivities, fun, and/or or faith now turned to a commercial market and a corrupted demeanor? Or does it feel like it is being removed from our culture altogether in the name of progress or through wrongful ideologies, such as “colonialism” or “cultural appropriation”?

The devil tries to take the events of God, especially that of Holy Days (holidays), and wreck them coming in to corrupt, steal or destroy. He will take what is used for the remembrance of God, and weigh it down with rules and regulations, till we are Pharisees within our performance of such events. He will steal them by trying to make these holidays his own, by white washing his own agenda over what was initially for God. Or he will try to remove it completely and have it gone from the pages of history.

We must resist the devil and fight to take back what was the Lord’s, and which the devil NEVER had a right to own to begin with. We have to bring back our holidays, events, festivals and religious ceremonies, back in alignment with why we do such things...mainly ALL of them boiled down to the “remembrance of what God has done for us”. And I feel, we must start, first and foremost, with the issue to that of Communion, and why we do it.
