A Service of Praise & Remembrance for William "Bill" Rockett
William “Bill” Lamar Rockett, 84, of Conover passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at his residence.
He was born November 28, 1938 in Catawba County to the late William Logan Rockett and Madge Eloise Gilbert Rockett. Bill was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Conover and a United States Navy veteran. He was a graduate of Newton-Conover High School and owner of Bill Rockett Plumbing. Bill was a cowboy at heart and loved old Westerns. He enjoyed collecting coins, traveling, volunteering and supporting Camp Linn Haven in Linville, NC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Marilyn Esch and Imogene Frye; and brother-in-law, Clarence Esch.

Tonya Rockett Whisnant and husband Calvin of Newton

Grandchildren: John Logan Self, Brittany Lyalls, Paul William Lane and wife Beth, Courtney Marie Lane, Marcus Coley Self, Rev. Luke William Self and wife Dani, Hannah Collazo and husband Christian, Nikki Keller and husband Joe, Zac Whisnant and Carly, and Austin King
Great-Grandchildren: Ansley Logan Self, Levi William Self, Salem DeNelta Self, Colt Allyn Collazo, Lilah Skye Whisnant and Grant Nelson Keller
A service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 12:00 noon at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Conover. Rev. Scott Johnson and Rev. Anton Lagoutine will officiate. Burial with military honors by AmVets of Hickory Post 76 will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m.. Those serving as pallbearers are Logan Self, Paul Lane, Coley Self, Rev. Luke Self, Kirk Cater and Dawson Cater, Kevin Frye, Christopher Moose, and Jacob Moose.
