Are We Supposed To Do Ministry Without Money, Food, or Shelter?

Welcome to the Lion’s Den Academy as we kick off our next video in the verse-by-verse study we have currently been doing through the book of Matthew, with this being part 47. Today we will begin to explore chapter 10, which is such an amazing and powerful chapter in this gospel that really feels like a pre-game prep talk by a coach before Super Bowl Sunday, and rightly so since this is where Jesus calls his apostles and then sends them out across all of Israel to teach and preach the gospel as well as using the special authority that Jesus gives them to heal the sick, cast out demons, and even raise the dead. You could also easily compare this to a mission briefing in the military. Having served two combat tours in the Marine Corps and then spending 6 years as a private military contractor in ancient Babylon, known to you today as Iraq, I can state that, without a doubt, a mission briefing is absolutely crucial to the success of a mission being completed with success. The briefing is where the vital information gets passed to those completing the mission, and in the Marine Corps we used the acronym SMEAC to ensure that nothing was missed, which stands for Situation, Mission, Equipment, Administration, and finally Command and Signal. Jesus himself hits on each of these points as he instructs his apostles to go out for the first time without him and do what, so far, they had only seen him do.
