Is America at War in the Middle East?

Iranian backed groups have launched drone attacks on U.S. forces, injuring 21 people. A U.S. contractor died from a heart condition due to these attacks.

This is happening while the Iranian Foreign Minister was allowed to attend a meeting at the U.N, where he threatened both the United States and Israel.

The U.S. has responded to the attack on our troops by engaging militarily in Syria. Is the U.S., by this action, at war? If so, with whom? Hamas? Hezbollah? Iran?
