Gov. Ron DeSantis said that the Wednesday night shootings in Lewiston, Maine “could be another example of a failure of our nation’s mental health system.”

“Casey and I were shocked to hear the news coming out of Lewiston, Maine,” DeSantis said. “We are praying for those injured, the comfort of the families of the victims, and the law enforcement officers who are working to bring this evil individual to justice.”

The shootings reportedly took place across multiple location in Lewiston.

The were reportedly at least 18 killed and more than a dozen others injured.

Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., also commented on the tragedy in Maine.
