The Ice Age Rock in Central Park

We’re in Central Park where we can find evidence of the last major ice age at Umpire Rock.

14,000 years ago NYC was buried under 2,000+ feet of ice, but then suddenly the ice started melting and forming the landscape we know today.

However there are many mysteries with sudden period of warming, where thousands of mammal species went extinct, leading many to believe that this ice age followed by sudden warming was caused by an asteroid impact.
