Evansville police fatally shoots woman who was armed with an all black airsoft gun

Authorities are providing more details about a deadly officer-involved shooting that unfolded in Evansville on Wednesday.

At 10 a.m. Thursday, the Evansville Police Department held a news conference to shed more light on the situation.

Officers originally responded to a dispute involving the woman on Cross Street on Wednesday night, and were later called back to the area after they say the same woman was walking outside with a gun.

The woman was shot and killed by an EPD officer, and authorities revealed Thursday that the woman was armed with a realistic revolver-style airsoft gun.

The identity of the woman who was shot has not been released at this time.
