Does gel polish protect the nails?

disclaimer: I don’t think nail polish or gel polish is bad. I like how polish looks and gel polish also has its benefits. But they should be used with respect, as a decoration and not for “strength” or for the “health” of the nails.Just like a dessert can be a wonderful treat but it should not be eaten in excess or for “nutritional value”
