Father’s Day is a time to celebrate and honor the dads in our lives, but it can also be a time to reflect on our relationships with them. How well do we know our fathers? What do they mean to us? How can we show them our love and appreciation?
On this episode of Late Night Love, we’ll explore these questions and more. We’ll also share some fun and surprising facts about Father’s Day, such as:

The first Father’s Day was celebrated in 1910 in Spokane, Washington, thanks to Sonora Smart Dodd, who wanted to honor her father, a Civil War veteran and widowed father of six.
In Germany, Father’s Day is celebrated on Ascension Day, 40 days after Easter, and involves men going on hikes with wagons full of beer and food.
In Thailand, Father’s Day is celebrated on December 5, the birthday of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who is considered the father of the nation. People wear yellow and give their fathers canna flowers.

We’ll also talk about some meaningful ways to celebrate Father’s Day with your dad or father figure, such as:

Creating a personalized gift for him, like a photo album, a mug, a keychain, or a tie. You can find some easy and creative ideas here.
Starting or continuing a Father’s Day tradition with him, like watching a movie, playing a game, going fishing, or having a barbecue. You can find some inspiration for traditions here.
Honoring his memory if he is no longer with you, by visiting his grave, writing him a letter, donating to a cause he cared about, or doing something he loved. You can find some suggestions for coping with grief here.
