ℹ️ INFO ℹ️
Counter-top portable appliances have increasingly become a source for home fires, explosive glass failures & personal injuries. Here’s some basic tips to help you avoid such mishaps.

1. Inspect exterior packaging & interior of appliance
🔸 Check packaging for signs of damage. Damaged packages usually need to be reported immediately to the seller or within 90 days to the manufacturer. Limited warranties have time sensitive coverage when it comes to shipping related concerns. Don’t forget to double check the interior of new appliances for stray packing materials, tape, loose wires and fasteners.

2. Do not place air fryers close to walls or below cabinet overhangs
🔹 Most air fryers generate significant heat. Always keep your air fryer on a level, heat-resistant countertop and make sure there are at least 6 inches or 15 centimeters of space behind the air fryer where the exhaust vent is located.

3. Never leave portable appliances plugged in.
🔸 Most new appliances use soft touch single-sided membrane switches. This type of switch is prone to failure in high temperature uses or environments. Over time the buttons themselves aka the domes can collapse causing circuitry shorts & unwanted button activations. To avoid a device from powering on randomly, always keep it unplugged.

4. Do not leave portable cooking appliances unattended during operation
🔹 Never leave any countertop cooking appliance unattended, hands free does not mean eyes-free. Every kitchen should have a class K fire extinguisher, which is technically a subclass of Class B. Kitchen fire extinguishers use high-volume, low-velocity delivery of the extinguishing agent to prevent splattering and spreading of the burning liquid grease.

5. Remove excess grease, oil & stray food
🔸 Remove excess grease, oil and pieces of food inside your air fryer to avoid internal combustion & grease fires. Many internal appliance fires are caused by grease & oil igniting on heating coils or stray pieces of burning food compromising interior wiring.

6. Do not use abrasives on glass doors
🔹 Abrasive chemical cleansers such as Comet and scrubbing pads such as Brillo pads, can cause micro-scratches in tempered glass. Micro-scratches on the surface of tempered safety glass can lead to micro-cracks & explosive glass failures.

7. Be careful not to jar or drop air fryer
🔸 Jarring or dropping an air fryer can dislodge wiring caps, heat elements & wiring harnesses. Some manufacturers take extra care to solder, insulate & secure wiring; however, many manufacturers cut corners. Any heavy burning plastic odors could be a sign that wiring is melting or shorting out. Do not operate any appliance that smells like burning plastic, better to return it immediately if possible or replace it if not.
