MOMBASA's Number 1 Restaurant / Is Tamarind Worth The Price?

With a strong 4.6 out of 5 and over 1000 reviews on Google this makes Tamarind the best restaurant in Mombasa according to the Internet!

So for our first trip in Mombasa, we had to try the best restaurant in town even though the reviews we're kind of warning everyone about their steep prices. And let's say that the review were not wrong about that. It is fairly expensive!

Upon arriving to the Tamarind restaurant, we were right away very impressed by the location. Beautiful open restaurant with a bar area and everything was overlook the water offering a stunning view especially during sunset. The live music was also a nice touch that really added to the ambiance.

After sitting at our table, we starting by enjoying some well prepared appetizer including tuna tataki which was some of the best we had ever had. And camembert samosa which were also amazing. Fried cheese... It just HAS to be good right!

All the seafood we had for our mains was also fresh and perfectly cooked. We would even say that it was some of the best seafood we had ever ate. From the shrimps to the crab cakes and of course the lobster it was all buttery and tasty. The only menu item that was good but they not surpassed our expectation was the chocolate desert but we are giving them a pass on that since it was not bad by any means.

Overall, an amazing culinary experience which we can recommend to any seafood lover who finds themselves in Mombasa. But keep in mind that this is more of a "special occasion" restaurant due to it's high price point.
