Sleepy Cockatiel Gets The Royal Treatment

Cockatiels are one of the smallest birds in the parrot family, and make lovable and intelligent pets. Cockatiels are social pets who will mimic your voice and happily ride around on your finger or shoulder. They are known for their ability to whistle almost entire songs. Male cockatiels are better are talking and whistling than female cockatiels. In the wild the male cockatiel use sounds to attract females. Although the standard age of cockatiels is 15 years, with proper care, they can live for more than twenty or even twenty five years.

The cockatiel was first discovered in Australia in 1770. It did not become popular until the Australian gold rush in the nineteen hundreds.They are very sociable birds and will become unhappy if they are left alone for long periods of time. It’s best to get a pair of cockatiels if you know you’ll be out of your house for long periods of time or are otherwise unable to play with them several times daily.

This cockatiel in the video is a real cuddler. Sparky’s favorite pastimes are sleeping and getting lots of scratches.
