Over time, Halloween in the United States evolved into a unique blend of cultural influences.
The pumpkin carving tradition, for example, is said to have originated from an Irish folktale about a man named Stingy Jack who made a deal with the devil and was condemned to roam the earth with only a carved-out turnip as his lantern.
