TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man was shot and killed during a violent exchange of gunfire with Tampa police Thursday evening.

Officers were initially called to the 3700 block of Busch Boulevard just before 11 p.m. after a caller reported a person firing shots from a Kia Soul in the parking lot of Allusions Bar & Lounge.

Authorities caught up with Kia on North 40th Street near East 32nd Avenue where they attempted a traffic stop.
Seconds later, the passenger, later identified as 46-year-old Laquincy Ward, exited the Kia and fired several shots at officers. Multiple bullets pierced the windshield and a body panel of a TPD cruiser.
After reaching speeds near 80 mph, the car stopped and the driver, a 37-year-old woman, got out and surrendered to police. She was charged with seven counts of Accessory After the Fact to Attempted Murder, Tampering with Evidence Related to a Felony, and Felony Fleeing to Elude.

About five minutes later, officers approached the vehicle to find Ward dead inside. Neither officer was injured, according to police.
