The A-10 Thunderbolt 2, or as it is perhaps better known: the A-10 Warthog, is an American subsonic ATTACK AIRCRAFT operated by the US Air Force. First flown in 1972, and after numerous attempts at retirement, the Warthog continues to police the battlefield in the CLOSE AIR SUPPORT role half a century later. In addition to the ‘WARTHOG’ moniker, the A10 Thunderbolt II also has a second nickname: ‘The Flying Gun’, due the devasting power of its 30mm GAU-8 Avenger Cannon. For today’s AVIATION ART release, we depict The Hog at high-speed, and down in the weeds below a moody European sky. Enjoy!
