Silvan de Smit: J.S. Bach - Choral, BWV 147 (Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring)

I’ve arranged this beautiful work of Johann Sebastian Bach for two guitars. In this video you can hear me play both parts, but visually you'll see me perform the top voice. I’ve decided to arrange it this way, so the complete mid-register melody of the piece can be entirely included in the recording (without compromising in the top voice), thus maintain an authentic and correct performance and respect the original composition from Maestro Bach.

It’s a very common occurrence that this mid-range melody is actually left out in (professional) recordings.

If you’re interested to play this arrangement yourself, either with me (through the recording or in a lesson) or with your guitar duo partner; the sheet music (+ tablature) of the arrangement is now available for purchasing. Contact me through my website for more information.

For educational purposes I will also record a video where you can see me perform the second guitar part, with the mid-register melody and the basses. In this way, it is easier to study the piece, compared to only working with the sheet music.

Thank you for watching and listening.
