A tale of two dresses – Adelaide Frocktails 2023 | Aussie Sewing Vlog | #53

Adelaide Frocktails has been and gone for another year and I was lucky enough to snag the last ticket and attend a fabulous and fun evening meeting and catching up with my gorgeous fellow Adelaide and interstate sewing friends.

I’ve mentioned before that I am not really the socialist of butterflies which I’m sure some of you probably don’t believe but is in fact true. Once of the best things about getting together with sewing people is it’s so easy to strike up a conversation and meet new people. Once I think I recognise a pattern or admire a fabric or garment I have no hesitation offering a compliment or asking a question and introducing myself!

I was extremely flattered this year to have one of my wonderful subscribers, Stacey of @always_sews_alot on Instagram mention she was also going to be there and greeted me moments after I stepped in. That really broke the nerves for me 😊 Stacey was also part of the team to bring Frocktails to Adelaide this year, so although I forgot to mention that in the video, I want to recognise her and the other hard working ladies for all their efforts.

As Robert Burns once wrote: The best laid schemes o’ mice an’ men Gang aft agley! Or as we know it, the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry!

Although I had every intention of making the new Style Arc Trinnie dress, that plan was quickly surpassed when I opened my recent The Dahlia Sewciety Spring Deluxe box, gazed upon the gorgeous Fabric Godmother viscose jacquard fabric and watched the video that accompanies the box.

Of course, there is some additional rambling throughout the video too!
