Israel military mounts limited Gaza ground raid, confirms hostage number at 222

Israel's military spokesperson said on Monday that ground forces carried out a limited raid into the Gaza Strip overnight to fight Hamas fighters and that air strikes were being focussed on sites where Hamas was assembling to attack any wider Israeli invasion. In a televised briefing, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari confirmed that 222 people had now been taken hostage during the Oct 7 Hamas attack.
