The US state dinner to be held in Anthony Albanese's honour will be more “dialled down” than previous state dinners due to the current conflicts in the world, says University of Sydney Political Scientist Professor Simon Jackman.

Professor Jackman said the 2019 Trump-Morrison state dinner was an “incredibly glamorous event”.

"It won’t be something like that, that level of glamour and glitz if you will,” he told Sky News Australia.

“There are ways to sort of hold a state dinner that are much more buttoned down and much more sombre.

“And I think a nod to the sort of testing times the United States and the world is looking at right now with conflicts in Ukraine and Biden determined that the US put aid on the table for Israel as well.”
