Is the Bank Collapse GOOD or BAD for the Housing Market? How will the bank collapse affect the housing market and mortgage rates? What does the bank collapse do to the housing market?
In my UTAH Housing Market Update video we talked about the bank collapse and how it would affect mortgage rates and your ability to buy a house. We said rates would drop and today they fell to the lowest level in 6 weeks. In a matter of days, we saw a massive drop in the 2-yr note yield which tracks Fed rate hike activity. It plummeted a full percentage point, down to 4%.
So, what can you expect over the coming weeks? For buyers & sellers it's great news. Declining rates will improve market conditions. Last week it looked like the Fed would increase rates by a half a percent. It’s now likely they will only raise the rate by a quarter percent or not at all as the recent rapid rate increases by the Fed put a lot of financial pressure on the banks.
