NEW VOLKSWAGEN TOUAREG 2024 FACELIFT | LOOK AT OUR NEW DESIGN #car_2024 #volkswagen #touareg
Volkswagen is upgrading its flagship and giving the Touareg a more or less major facelift. High-tech LED headlights, improved suspension and new operating software are to make the luxury SUV fit for the years to come.
As a popular luxury SUV, VW has so far achieved more than 1.13 million sales over three model generations - quite an achievement for a once bourgeois-oriented brand like VW when measured against the high initial price.

In addition to visual retouching, which mainly affects the front and rear, the Wolfsburg-based company is introducing the high-resolution and further developed IQ-Light HD LED matrix headlights for the first time on one of its models. 32,000 LED pixels are supposed to illuminate the road as bright as day and at the same time be able to fade out other vehicles and people with pixel precision. If the optional headlights are configured into the vehicle, road users driving behind can recognise another innovation on the Touareg at night: For the first time, the VW logo between the LED tail lights is illuminated in red.

The engineers have also worked on the chassis. Not only is there a roof load sensor networked with the chassis electronics for the first time, which recognises when a roof box is fitted, but the comfort and agility of the two selectable suspensions have also been improved, according to the factory. In the basic version, the new VW Touareg still comes with a steel suspension, while an air suspension with adjustable height and firmness can be ordered as an option. A pure adaptive suspension (or the new 2-chamber 2-valve air suspension), as offered on the sister model Porsche Cayenne, is not available. Active roll stabilisation and all-wheel steering are also available at extra cost, depending on the model.

As for the engine line-up, Volkswagen is relying on familiar models. The entry-level engine continues to be a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel with a choice of 231 or 286 hp (combined fuel consumption: 8.0 l/100 km). Above this is the 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine with 340 hp (fuel consumption combined: 10.7 l/100 km; and the two plug-in hybrid models eHybrid (381 system hp) and R eHybrid (462 system hp) (fuel consumption combined: WLTP fuel consumption combined 2.4-2.1 l/100 km; electricity consumption combined 24.2-23.7 kWh/100km;

Volkswagen refrained from adjusting the battery size of both part-time electric vehicles to match those of its competitors. The battery size remains the same at 17.9 kWh, of which 14.3 kWh net can be used in everyday driving. Accordingly, the range of the Touareg eHybrid remains 52 kilometres and that of the Touareg R Hybrid 47 kilometres.

Volkswagen also refrained from making any major changes to the interior. The so-called Innovation Cockpit continues to dominate the interior of the Touareg. It consists of a Digital Cockpit with a screen diagonal of 30.5 centimetres and the Discover Pro Max infotainment system, which measures 38.1 centimetres diagonally. Probably the biggest innovation is an updated software version, which should make operation via the touchscreen, but also voice control, even more comfortable and error-free. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also work wirelessly with the facelift.

The also familiar and optional assistance systems of the VW Touareg continue to include Travel Assist (assisted driving up to the maximum speed), Area View (360-degree view of the surroundings when manoeuvring), Park Assist Plus with remote control via app for automatic parking and unparking, Trailer Assist (assisted manoeuvring with trailer) and "Nightvision" (night vision support).

The new VW Touareg is available in four trim levels: basic, Elegance, R-Line and R-Model, with the basic version starting at 69,200 euros. The Elegance equipment line follows at a minimum of 75,070 euros, whereas the R-Line starts at 79,660 euros and the Touareg R Hybrid is listed in the German price list from 93,870 euros. Standard equipment includes: LED headlights, Innovations Cockpit, Discover Pro Max navigation system, 2-zone automatic climate control, electrically adjustable and heated front seats, keyless go, electric tailgate operation, DCC automatic distance control, lane departure warning, reversing camera, traffic sign recognition and emergency brake assist.
