UHaul: The Return - Forsyth via Stunning Country Between Lame Deer & Colstrip - Custer Camp Site

The 186 mile (or so) round trip simply to get to the nearest UHaul drop-off point was enough to defer the attempt for over a year. Esp after just finishing a near 800 mile RT from Helena. But helpful was having to drive to Forsyth for other biz last month, therefore more familiar with the route / distance reality and looking forward to another look at the remarkable semi-badlands country between Lame Deer and I-90.
Perhaps not-ironic "Indian Summer" warm, clear October weather. The rain on the trip to Helena was a short event, expected and only had short periods of actual precipitation past drizzle. Still holding through this week and more than could be hoped for with loading, travel, unloading then trailer return. More fuel expense but prices had just dropped and a great trip by scenic standards.
The Custer camp site had been passed before but taking the time never disappoints; the brief historic site stop an unexpected surprise, connecting us to the Seventh Cavalry, only two days before they met their doom at the Battle of the Little Big Horn.
