US Bases Attacked as Israel-Hamas Conflict Escalates

Amid the escalating Israel-Hamas conflict, there has been an increase in drone and rocket attacks targeting US military bases in the Middle East. On the evening of October 19, the Ain al-Asad airbase in western Iraq, which hosts US forces, was subjected to attacks involving drones and missiles. Multiple explosions were reported within the base, but it remains unclear whether these attacks resulted in casualties or damages. Additionally, on the same day, rockets struck another military base that hosts US forces near Baghdad's international airport, according to Iraqi police.

Prior to this, on October 18, US military forces in Iraq were targeted in two separate drone attacks, with one of them causing minor injuries to a small number of troops. The armed drone in the October 18 attack was intercepted by US military forces. On the same day, a drone struck US forces in Syria, resulting in minor injuries, while another drone was successfully brought down.

These attacks on US forces have escalated since the outbreak of the conflict in Israel, which began following Hamas's attack on October 7.
