Your Cost to Buy a House Just WENT UP! Biden Raises Cost for Good Homebuyers to Help Risky Borrowers. What the heck did Joe Biden Just do? If you’ve worked hard, saved your money & been responsible, paying all of your bills on time, you now get the privilege of helping the US Government subsidize high risk mortgages. Biden just raised the costs for Buyers with good credit to help risky borrowers. This new fee will go into effect May 1. Experts say homebuyers with credit scores of 680 or higher would pay an additional $40/mo. on a home loan of $400,000. If you already have a loan in place, you are safe. But for those looking to buy or refinance, you will likely pay this new fee. Punishing those who have saved their money & proven to be good borrowers will NOT solve the nations low-income housing issue. To punish good borrowers in times when housing affordability is already tough just doesn’t make sense.
