How the UN Security Council chose to handle Libya regarding the killing of the country’s former ruler, Muammar Gaddafi, speaks volumes about Africa’s standing on the global stage. We are still marginalized, discriminated and disrespected. That is what former Permanent Representative of the African Union to the United States Dr Arikana Chihombori-Quao spoke about during a 2020 Q&A session at the World Affairs Council. She shared her discontent with how Gaddafi was taken out. The Security Council went against the African Union’s wishes to intervene, and those actions have led to the current instability in Libya.

What do you think of Chihombori-Quao’s remarks? Let us know in the comments.
