I was stationed in Germany with the British Army in the early 1970s and some Germans old enough to have fought in the war regarded us as an army of occupation but most Germans were friendly towards us and I had some great times in Germany and had a German girlfriend and we only split-up because she did not want to go to England and leave her family and friends when I was posted back to England.
