Intelligence report: 100 to 300 died in the hospital

The death toll from the hospital explosion in Gaza is at "the lower end of the 100 to 300 range", according to a US intelligence report seen by Reuters.

However, the report stresses that the figure could rise, stating that this is a "huge loss of life".

It also states that only "light structural damage" was observed at the hospital.

Israel claims that a rocket from the Islamic Jihad terrorist group was behind the explosion - a view shared by US intelligence.

Hamas and the Palestinian authorities claim it was an Israeli attack. According to Palestinian reports, around 500 people died in the explosion.
