We had no idea that we were in Shanghai during the outbreak in January of 2020. Not knowing that the virus was spreading, we got on crowded trains, walked on bustling sidewalks, and didn't know what social distancing was yet...

The world changed so quickly and we didn't even realize it was happening. Arriving in Shanghai during the outbreak was surreal. It felt like nothing was happening until it was, if you know what I mean. One day, everyone was acting normal and the next every was was wearing masks.

We still loved our first day in Shanghai and had a blast getting a local Chinese friend to show us around!
