Evening Reading/Reflection and Study- (Psalm 141-142- Prayers of Incense)- "The Existing One"

Good evening, my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Jared led a discussion on two psalms, 141 and 142, relating to incense as a visible sign of prayers. He further tied the symbolism of incense to the prayers of God's people, referencing Revelation 5:8 and Malachi 1:11.

Revelation 5:8
Worthy Is the Lamb
8 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell before the Lamb, each having a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

Malachi 1:11
For from the rising of the sun, even to its going down,
My name shall be great among the Gentiles.
In every place, incense shall be offered to My name,
And a pure offering.
For My name shall be great among the nations,”
Says the Lord of hosts.

According to the commentary of the Orthodox Study Bible, this is a remarkable and clear prophecy that the Gentiles, in their worship of God, in every place or church, will burb incense before Him- as Israel had done. To this day, incense is offered in nearly every service of the Orthodox Church.
