Cop Shootings Soar in Philly

Policemen wear badges on their chests…and targets on their backs.
It happened again…and again…with five more Philadelphia policemen being hit by gunshots during the past two weeks.
The most recent fatality occurred at Philadelphia International Airport where Officer Richard Mendez was murdered in cold blood by men breaking into a vehicle at the airport parking lot. Mendez was hit four times by bullets, and a fellow officer was treated and released from the hospital after a gunshot wound to the arm.
One of the suspects was apparently hit by return fire and he perished at a local Philadelphia hospital. Another suspect was reported to be in police custody.
