US President Joe Biden has confirmed he will visit Israel on Wednesday, before going on to Jordan where he'll meet officials including Palestine's Mahmoud Abbas.

It comes as Iran's foreign minister said Israel will not be allowed to act in the Gaza Strip without consequences - and warned of "pre-emptive action" in the coming hours.

More than 100 people were killed on Monday night following strikes at homes in Rafah and Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
