2. **Purpose of the Devotion:** The Sacred Heart of Jesus appeared to St. Margaret Mary, opening a new source of graces for souls. Devotion to the Sacred Heart attracted souls to conversion and was meant to counteract the ongoing apostasy.

3. **Promotion of the Devotion:** Devotion to the Sacred Heart spread widely within the Church, gaining popularity in the 19th century. Prominent figures like St. John Eudes vigorously promoted this devotion, and Popes, including Leo XIII, supported it.

4. **Attack on the Devotion:** In the early pontificate of Pius XI, opposition to the devotion began. Modernist influences started to rise, and members of movements like Catholic Action and the liturgical movement attacked the devotion, considering it sentimental and lacking theological depth.

5. **Defamatory Campaign:** A defamatory campaign was launched against the devotion, labeling it as effeminate and suitable only for poorly formed Catholics. Anyone defending the devotion would face exclusion from these movements.

6. **Silencing the Devotion:** A more dangerous maneuver involved burying the devotion in silence. Promotion ceased, churches were no longer built in honor of the Sacred Heart, and June devotions dedicated to the Sacred Heart dwindled.

7. **Fading Away of Devotion:** Devotion to the Sacred Heart almost completely disappeared within the Church. Pilgrimage sites like Paray-le-Monial, where St. Margaret Mary received the revelations, became neglected and deserted.

8. **Grave Rejection:** The rejection of the devotion to the Sacred Heart symbolizes a deep ingratitude. It parallels the centurion's piercing of Christ's Heart, but unlike the centurion, there is no cure for the spiritual blindness caused by this rejection.

9. **Current State of the Church:** The rejection of the Sacred Heart devotion signifies a severe spiritual crisis within the Church. Blind leaders are leading the blind, and the faithful are moving further away from the true path.

Let us implore the Sacred Heart of Jesus through St. Margaret Mary Alacoque that this situation end, and that both a new Christendom and a restored Holy Mother Church be reinstalled on this earth.
