Switzerland refuses to take sides in ever more divided world

Switzerland’s most prominent political party is advocating for an even stronger commitment to neutrality, despite the increasing complexity of maintaining a non-aligned position in the midst of conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.

The right-wing Swiss People’s Party, poised to secure the largest share of the vote in the upcoming elections, aims to gather 100,000 signatures by May.

This endeavor is aimed at triggering a referendum to enshrine “perpetual” neutrality in the country’s constitution, Bloomberg reported.
