Doe Video, She’s Meat in the Freezer

I climbed into the tree at 3:30 I was running a little late but had a job that had to be finished this day, I forgot the camera mount for my stationary camera so I was only going to have footage from my bow camera. I started prepping for an extended afternoon hunt, spray my Vanilla/anise/water cover scent mixture downwind, rub an apple on the tree I’m sitting in, rub several cedar clippings on my head, face, hands and hunting suit. My bow was in the tree but the sight was not turned on, my head cover was not on, my gloves and release were also not on yet as I noticed movement over my left shoulder. There was the big doe and two fawns that I was looking for, I had seen the doe several times before and she was a few years old and very nice size. I did not have much time maybe three minutes to get ready which added to my nervousness. As you will see in the video I draw my bow, the doe crosses under the line fence which is about 15 yards from my stand, and I make the shot, not the best shot I’ve ever made but it did the trick. In her death run she comes closer to the stand and falls dead. Her two buck fawns hang around downwind of me for about thirty minutes or so before finally scurrying off.
